CENTRAL SCOTLAND GREEN NETWORK

Supporting a Green Recovery

A ‘Green Recovery’ is supported by the CSGN’s dual role of reducing inequality and promoting sustainable and inclusive economic activity.

Here the emphasis is on supporting projects and programmes that deliver employment and social benefits by integrating green infrastructure into town centres, disadvantaged areas, and Vacant and Derelict Land.

Actions

The CSGN facilitates projects that deliver the following actions

TRANSFORMING VACANT AND DERELICT LAND

Projects that develop productive green uses for these sites also help to improve areas of post-industrial blight.

TARGETING AREAS OF DISADVANTAGE

Helping to regenerate the places that are experiencing the highest levels of environmental disadvantage.

GREENING BUSINESS ENVIRONMENTS

To attract and retain economic activity by providing attractive green environments to work and do business.

ENHANCING TOWN CENTRES

Green infrastructure in town centres not only increases resilience to climate change but also provides a better environment for staff, customers and residents.

LOW CARBON ENERGY

Wherever possible, incorporating low carbon energy generation into the design and management of green infrastructure.

CREATING NEW EMPLOYMENT

In roles relating to the creation, management and use of green infrastructure.

Featured Project

WISHAWHILL WOOD PUMP TRACK

Transforming an area of Vacant and Derelict Land into a cycling pump track has breathed new life into the community of Craigneuk, a high priority SIMD area for regeneration. In addition to boosting health and reducing anti-social activity, it has led to the start-up of a new social enterprise and even hosted a round of the World Pumptrack Championships.
