Work kicked off in 2014 to look at global costs to deliver the CSGN. This work was developed for us by the GCV Green Network Partnership. The report produced identifies a total delivery cost for the CSGN of £2.8b which is well in line with other national infrastructure projects. Scottish Government colleagues then carried out work to look at the benefits arising from this investment. This report identifies multiple benefits in excess of £6b over the next 35 years. Subsequently, GCV Green Network Partnership was re-engaged to look at where resources would come from to deliver the CSGN and identified that currently (2016) there is around £50m of funding a year that can be aligned to help realise the initiative.
Earlier this year, GCV Green Network Partnership broke down the Costing work to look at the implications for each of the four CSGN regions. This work is complete and has been made available to regional partners to consider further.
