£8 million nature boost for urban communities

Almost £8 million of funding has been announced to help people and nature thrive in some of the most deprived parts of Scotland.

The latest round of Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH)’s ambitious Green Infrastructure Fund will support seven major projects in cities and towns across the central belt.

The fund aims to tackle socio-economic issues such as poor health and high unemployment as well as mitigate the impacts of climate change through creating and improving greenspaces in urban communities.

Work Begins on Scotland's Largest New District Park

A total of 31,000 new trees to be planted as part of the design led by local community for a new district park.

Winchburgh Developments Limited has confirmed that I&H Brown has commenced work on a brand new 78-acre district park at Winchburgh in a contract worth £6 million. The first phase of the park is scheduled to open in spring 2021.

New John Muir Way initiative to benefit walkers, cyclists and local businesses

Explorers on the John Muir Way can now record their 134-mile adventure across central Scotland with a new official passport.

Launched to coincide with the coast to coast route’s fifth anniversary year, the John Muir Way passport will provide a lasting memento for walkers and cyclists undertaking the 134-mile route, while providing a welcome incentive to visit local attractions and businesses along the way.
