Forestry Commission Scotland serves as the forestry directorate of the Scottish Government and is responsible to Scottish Ministers. Its mission is to protect and expand Scotland's forests and woodlands and increase their value to society and the environment. FCS is also responsible for managing the National Forest Estate in Scotland on behalf of Ministers.

Conservator for Central Scotland

FCS is working in partnership with others to support delivery of the CSGN, including:

Vacant & Derelict Land – Encouraging ‘greening’ as a legitimate use of VDL

Woodland Creation – Addressing the barriers to woodland creation and developing and delivering a CSGN Woodland Creation Action Plan.

Scottish Lowland Forest District – Delivering multi-purpose woodlands and woodland management addressing VDL, providing Employment & Training etc. through direct funding of the National Forest Estate.

Funding numerous green network and community projects across the area through the CSGN Development Fund, the CSGN Community Project Fund and through its own grants programmes.
