CSGNT Annual Report 2015/16 available now

The latest CSGNT annual report is now available to download. It accounts for the work CSGNT has carried out in partnership with the Scottish Government and with stakeholders to drive forward the delivery of the CSGN, improving the vitality, health and well-being of Central Scotland.

This year, CSGNT has continued to formalise its commitment to partnership working, securing the delivery of the CSGN with further Regional Partner Concordat signings. Good progress has also been made in developing relationships with private sector partners.

Funding has continued to be distributed to small-scale greenspace initiatives through the CSGN Community Project Fund, and larger projects through the CSGN Development Fund. Focus has continued to identify opportunities improving the quality of the environment in disadvantaged areas, transforming vacant and derelict land, and encouraging active travel.

A significant example of the work carried out by CSGNT in 2015/16 is provided by Greenoakhill. The Greenoakhill project, located five miles east of Glasgow city centre, is a major project that will transform a landfill and recycling site into a community woodland.

When complete, over 20,000 trees will have been planted to create woodland, alongside a network of pathways that will create a greenspace for people across the surrounding communities.

The project illustrates CSGNT’s ethos of partnership working, focus on active travel and vacant and derelict land, and emphasis on supporting disadvantaged communities.

In the coming years, CSGNT will continue to pursue its overarching vision of a place where, by 2050, the environment adds value to the economy and where people’s lives are enriched by its quality.
