The Gathering: re-connecting the CSGN Community

The Gathering conference was a key event bringing together members and partners across private, public and third-sector in Central Scotland. The day provided a valuable opportunity for collaboration, knowledge exchange and peer learning across the CSGN.

We are delighted to share our Summary Report, which highlights the main themes, discussions, and feedback captured throughout the event. It also includes links to workshop resources and the keynote speaker’s presentations. The insights and contributions from delegates, particularly from the World Café and workshop sessions, have been instrumental in informing the development of our CSGN Stakeholder Engagement Plan, which is now being implemented.

Next steps

Building on the outcomes of The Gathering, the next phase of our engagement will include a series of in-person and online workshops, as well as surveys and polls. These activities will further shape the future direction of the Network and ensure that it continues to support the work of our partners across sectors. We are particularly keen to connect with professionals and decision-makers working in planning, biodiversity, climate action, active travel, and land management, as their expertise and perspectives are essential to the continued success of the CSGN.

To encourage ongoing dialogue and collaboration, please join our new CSGN Network LinkedIn Group. This platform provides a space to share ideas, exchange best practice, and strengthen connections within the CSGN community. We encourage you to share the Summary Report and the LinkedIn Group with colleagues and partners who may wish to contribute to this collective effort. Together, we can continue to grow and strengthen the CSGN community and advance our shared vision of a greener, fairer and more climate-resilient Central Scotland.

I was struck by the enthusiasm not just to stay throughout the day, but to fully engage in the conversations and workshops. My thanks to all. Across the room, I could observe the engagement and hear the challenges. There was frustration and concern, but also clear ideas and inspiring pragmatism. What I heard above all was the desire to create a different future and to care for both people and the natural environment across Central Scotland.
