The visionary book capturing the learning from Europe’s largest greenspace initiative, Central Scotland Green Network, has been highly commended at the prestigious Landscape Institute Awards.

‘Growing Awareness - How green consciousness can change perceptions and places’ edited by Professor Brian Evans, Head of Urbanism at The Glasgow School of Art (GSA), and Sue Evans, Head of Development at CSGN, brings together a significant research effort by the Central Scotland Green Network Trust and the Glasgow Urban Laboratory at the Glasgow School of Art together with contributions of leading experts from across the globe, to inspire the transformation change for future generations through green infrastructure.

Local communities encouraged to get planting for pollinators

Central Scotland Green Network Trust (CSGNT) is working with Buglife Scotland, local schools and communities to help transform the John Muir Way into a rich habitat for pollinators.

The Planting for Pollinators along the John Muir Way project aims to help create wildflower areas along the route of the John Mur Way and within 3km either side, by encouraging local schools and communities to plant mini meadows that will help provide foraging environments for pollinating bees, hoverflies and other insects as well as homes for additional wildlife.

Green community ambitions - £400,000 to boost the environment

Communities across the central belt can bring environmental and health benefits to their areas by bidding for a share of a £400,000 fund.

The 2018-19 round of the Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) funding will offer investment to projects promoting active travel, woodland planting, community growing and restoring land. Since 2010 £6.3 million has been invested in more than 180 projects.

2017 CSGN Forum Survey Results

The 2017 CSGN Forum drew inspiration from across the globe with leading experts from Italy, Belfast and Copenhagen underlining the need for greenspace, green infrastructure and active travel routes in cities and urban environments.

Central Scotland to Benefit From Green Funding Boost

Forty-eight community projects in Scotland have been awarded £40,000 funding in total from the Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) Community Project Fund to improve their local greenspace.

The £40,000 Community Project Fund – supported by £30,000 funding from the Greggs Foundation and £10,000 from Central Scotland Green Network Trust (CSGNT) – is providing one-off grants of up to £1,000 to support small-scale greenspace initiatives and to foster community engagement in maintaining and enhancing the local environment.
