A new £1M Green Infrastructure fund is due to open in June 2015. NERC will fund up to £1m for innovation projects with the potential to accelerate impact of NERC science in the area of green infrastructure.

Arup and Central Scotland Green Network Unveil Visionary Approach to Green Infrastructure

Central Scotland could be set to follow the lead of world cities like New York and Paris by adopting innovative approaches to greening its urban areas. 

The ‘Cities Alive’ approach advocated by Arup, one of the UK’s leading firms of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists, could see Central Scotland embrace ideas used in The High Line in New York and the Promenade Plantee in Paris, where obsolete structures have been given a new purpose through the retrofitting of green infrastructure.

Funding Boost for Greenspace in Central Scotland

Thirteen projects in the central belt are to share £510,500 funding to improve access to greenspace and help transform the quality of life for people living and working in the area.

The projects, supported through the Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) Development Fund, are based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, North Lanarkshire, North Ayrshire, Midlothian and the Forth Valley and will breathe new life into vacant and derelict land, boost active travel and improve the lives of disadvantaged communities.

Growing Spaces Survey Spotlight - Pacitti Community Garden

In this on-going piece of research we are turning to the ‘grow your own’ community to help map spaces that they are using to grow food. Participants are being asked to show us where their allotments, orchards and community gardens are using an easy to use online mapping survey.
